Education website design that turns researchers into enrolments

Education buyers research for weeks. A parent compares five schools.

Why work with Nirmal Gyanwali on education website design?

A worker compares three RTOs for the same qualification. An HR manager compares training providers for a whole team. Your website is where that comparison is won or lost, usually on a phone, usually late at night, and increasingly through an AI assistant asked to “compare these for me”.

I’m Nirmal Gyanwali, Founder and CEO of WP Creative, and I built PostCliq. My team designs and builds websites and learning platforms for schools, universities, registered training organisations and online course providers. We build the site that wins the enrolment and the platform that delivers the course, and we look after both.

The biggest risk I see on education websites isn’t the design. It’s one person holding the keys. Not long ago a university team came to my team because a key member of its web team was about to go on leave, and nobody else knew its WordPress sites well enough to cover. Procurement put us through a full vendor risk assessment before we could touch a thing. A few months in, we found security certificates on several of its sites still being renewed by hand, an outage waiting for a long weekend; we headed it off and planned the move to automatic renewal. A website nobody owns works fine right up until the day it matters most.

What makes education website design different?

Education website design is judged on how easily a prospective student or parent can compare, decide and take the next step: book a tour, request an info pack or enrol. Course facts must be accurate and current, because regulators and buyers both check them. Many providers also need the site to deliver learning, which brings logins, payments, assessments and certificates.

In the AI era an education website has three jobs. Be found when a parent or student asks Google or ChatGPT to compare providers. Be chosen when they land, because the course facts are clear and the next step is obvious. Keep growing, faster and safer, through enrolment peaks, security reviews and staff changes.

01

Compare

course pages with duration, delivery mode, entry requirements, intakes and outcomes in plain text.

02

Enrol

one obvious next step on every course page, from “Book a tour” to “Enrol now”.

03

Deliver

where the website is also the classroom, learning, assessment and certification that staff don’t have to run by hand.

What we hear from schools, RTOs and universities

01

“Our website doesn’t drive enrolments.”

Cluttered navigation, no clear prospectus or tour pathway, key year levels buried, and no obvious next step.

02

“Our platforms don’t connect.”

Booking in one tool, e-learning in another, certificates issued by hand, so staff do what software should.

03

“We have six websites.”

And nobody to run them. Campuses, colleges and programs each grew their own site, with no shared release process.

04

“IT flagged our site.”

An old PHP version or plugin, found by the cybersecurity team, with a deadline to fix it.

05

“Procurement wants a vendor assessment.”

Security questionnaires and vendor risk assessments, all to be completed before any work on the website can start.

06

“Peak periods break things.”

Enrolment rushes, intake deadlines and campaign traffic hit slow servers exactly when it matters most.

What an AI-ready education website looks like

Students and parents now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Mode to shortlist courses and schools. Those answers come from pages the assistant can read and trust. An agent-ready website gives every course one canonical page with its facts as text, keeps intake dates current, and makes the next step understandable without guessing. If an assistant helps with a tour or information request, the person still needs to review and approve any submission; enrolment and student data need their own access and privacy controls.

The trap I see most: course details locked in a PDF prospectus, with different numbers on three pages. A PDF is hard to read on a phone, hard to keep current and easy to contradict. A maintained HTML course page can be the primary reference, with the prospectus pointing back to it. The page still needs an owner and a review date. Before an intake campaign goes live, I would check the course code, delivery mode, entry rules, fees and next available intake against the approved source, then check that the enquiry reaches the right team. HTML alone cannot keep those facts current.

Rules that shape an education website

Your compliance team owns these obligations. My team builds the website so they are easy to meet and hard to break.

01

Accessibility

The Disability Standards for Education apply to education providers, and WCAG 2.2 AA is the target my team designs to. Test with real assistive technology, not only automated tools.

02

RTOs

Market only what’s on your scope. Show your RTO code, and each course’s code and title as the National Register lists them, as text. ASQA’s practice guide covers the detail.

03

International students

Show your CRICOS registered name and registration number on written and online material used to market courses or recruit overseas students, as the National Code 2018 Standard 1 guidance sets out. Confirm the approved wording and course claims with your compliance lead.

04

Child safety and privacy

Get consent before publishing any images of students. Keep forms for minors minimal, ask only for what you need, and store every enquiry securely.

When you don’t need a new platform

If your learning platform works and students complete courses, keep it. Redesign the marketing site and fix the handover between “enrol” and “start learning”. My team rebuilds the platform only when staff are doing by hand what software should do, or when the tools you have can’t be secured. See website redesign for how we decide.

Education website design FAQs

Can you build our LMS, booking and certificates on WordPress?

Yes. My team has built WordPress platforms that handle course booking, e-learning access, assessment tracking and certificate issuing in one place. If you already use a separate LMS, we connect the website to it instead. More on custom web applications.

Can you complete our vendor security assessment?

Yes. My team has been through a university’s vendor risk assessment and procurement onboarding before starting work. Send the questionnaire before the first call and we’ll tell you honestly where we stand.

We run several campus or college websites. Can you manage them together?

Yes. We manage multi-site estates with one release process, shared components and monthly reporting across every site, so a fix made once applies everywhere it should.

Will our marketing team be able to update course pages?

Yes. Course pages are built from structured fields, so your team edits the facts once and they update everywhere they appear. That also keeps the details consistent for AI assistants.

Do you write our course content or run our marketing?

No. My team designs, builds and looks after the website and platform. We don’t run SEO or advertising; if you need it, we’ll refer you to partners and work alongside them.

Running a school, RTO or training business?

Book a free call. You’ll talk with me or my team about your students, your platforms and what should change before your next intake. If you’re in Sydney, see how my team works with Sydney organisations, and after launch, care plans keep it running.
