SEO Brisbane: a free consultation, then a site that ranks

SEO in Brisbane starts with a website Google and AI assistants can read.

How do I compare SEO companies in Brisbane?

Compare what each proposal changes on your website, not the monthly fee. Most SEO proposals list reports, content and links. Ask who fixes speed, indexing, redirects and schema, and how quickly those fixes ship. If nobody in the proposal can change the site, the recommendations will sit in a report. Compare scope first, then price.

Comparing SEO quotes is apples with pears until you compare scope. Put these four questions to every Brisbane SEO agency on your list:

  • Who changes the website when you find a problem? A fix that never ships is worth nothing.
  • What happens to our rankings if we rebuild? Ask which old URLs, enquiries and tracking events they will test before and after launch.
  • How will you report AI visibility, not just rankings? Being named in AI answers is now part of being found.
  • Whose name are the accounts in? Search Console, analytics and hosting should be yours.

What does an SEO company in Brisbane actually do?

An SEO company in Brisbane does six jobs: keyword research, on-page SEO, technical SEO, content, link building and local SEO, then reports on what they brought in. A content and links retainer can’t fix a slow site or a broken redirect on its own. Someone has to change the website.

Whether you call it an SEO company, an agency or an SEO firm, ask which of those jobs it does itself and which it hands off. My team does the technical SEO and the site architecture. Content belongs with your marketing team, which can now do most of it with AI. Links come from PR and editorial coverage. If you need help with campaigns, a partner from our network or the SEO company you already have can run it, so you can see who owns what.

Why I judge SEO advice by whether it can be built

I learned to look at SEO this way because I had to do it myself. At medical school I built a health portal, designed and coded it front end to back end, and there was no marketing team. I had to market it myself: SEO, go-to-market, all of it. I later sold the portal to a pharmaceutical company. The habit stuck.

That’s why my team doesn’t run monthly SEO. We fix and build the website those proposals depend on, then refer the ongoing work to a partner, or work alongside the Brisbane SEO company you already have.

If a new site is part of the comparison, my website design cost guide explains what drives a quote, and my web design Brisbane page covers the build itself.

Is SEO still worth paying for if my Brisbane buyers ask ChatGPT instead?

Search still matters when an assistant uses it to retrieve supporting sources. Google says its AI Overviews and AI Mode can use query fan-out to explore related subtopics; other assistants and modes retrieve information differently. Build useful pages around distinct buyer needs, and answer closely related questions together. A separate thin page for every wording of a question adds little value.

The evidence for the shape: in Ahrefs’ early 2026 study of 863,000 keywords, only 38% of pages cited in AI Overviews also ranked in the top 10 for the same query, down from 76% in its July 2025 study (the methods differ, so read it as a direction). Ahrefs’ own explanation, and mine, is that many of the other citations answer the sub-questions AI fans out to, such as cost, timing, risk and who it suits. Google documents query fan-out, but this study does not establish why each URL was selected or how much the changed method explains the difference. Use it as a reason to cover a buyer’s related needs clearly, not as a formula for citation.

When not to chase it: if most of your work comes from referrals and repeat clients, AI visibility can wait. Make sure the site converts the people who already look you up. For the deeper AI side, see what makes an AI-ready website.

Where should a small business in Brisbane start with SEO?

With three free steps, before you pay anyone. Paid SEO is worth it once people search for what you sell in Brisbane and your website can turn that search into an enquiry. If you can’t take on more work yet, or the site doesn’t convert the visitors it already gets, fix that first.

First, check whether you qualify for a Google Business Profile: you need a real customer-facing location or to travel to customers, rather than operating only online. If eligible, claim it and represent the actual address or service area accurately. Set up Google Search Console so you can see the searches that already find you. Give each main service its own clear page that names Brisbane or your suburb. That’s an SEO-ready website at its simplest, and it makes any later spend go further.

I freelanced for about 11 years before founding WP Creative, so I know how far a small business budget has to stretch. Spend it where the bottleneck is, not where the proposal is longest.

How does local SEO work for a Brisbane business?

Google says local results, including the map listings, are mainly based on three things: relevance, distance and prominence (Google Business Profile Help). You can’t move your office closer to every searcher, so local SEO works on the other two. Relevance comes from your Google Business Profile categories and a website page that says clearly what you do in Brisbane. Prominence comes from reviews, links and mentions across the web.

Reviews need care in Australia. The ACCC is clear that fake reviews, and removing or editing genuine negative ones, can breach the Australian Consumer Law. Ask every real customer the same way, and answer the critical reviews rather than hiding them.

My team builds the website side of local SEO: the Brisbane page, consistent business details, LocalBusiness schema and a fast mobile site. Your Google Business Profile, reviews and citations stay with you or your SEO partner.

Why does Google show my Brisbane business for the wrong city?

Start with the query and landing page, not an assumed cause. Check whether the searcher wanted a different service or location, whether the wrong page appears, and whether your real service coverage and business details are clear. Use local proof where you have it, but do not invent a branch or repeat a city name to explain every mismatch. A separate location page needs a useful reason to exist.

When I review a location page, I check whether the evidence belongs to that place. For a Brisbane organisation, Queensland projects, release windows and service coverage tell a buyer more than a city name repeated in headings.

Then I use a city-swap test: replace the city name with another. If the body still reads the same, it needs evidence specific to the place and the buyer. Mass-producing city pages mainly to manipulate search rankings can breach Google’s spam policies. A location page needs a useful reason to exist.

How do we handle an SEO migration in Brisbane without losing rankings?

Plan it before design starts, not the week before launch. List the old URLs with traffic, links or important conversion journeys. Keep a URL where possible; map changed pages to relevant destinations and test their redirects. Agree the priority URL and enquiry checks with the SEO partner before the builder releases them, including canonical, indexing and tracking checks. Monitor after launch and expect that rankings may fluctuate while the changes are processed.

Sunwater is the Queensland example. Its site carried legacy URLs and redirects built up over years. My team cleaned them up as part of a full rebuild, and the count of top-three keywords rose 17% and held through it. That rise belongs to the whole programme, not to the redirects alone, but it shows a rebuild doesn’t have to cost you rankings.

The same rule applies to a theme change, a platform move or merging two sites. If you’re unsure whether a rebuild will hurt your rankings at all, my website redesign page covers that call.

The technical foundation my team builds

01

Migrations and redirects

Inventory URLs with traffic or links. Keep working addresses where possible, map changed pages to relevant replacements and test the plan before launch. Activate redirects when the changed URLs go live, then monitor the important journeys. Rankings can still fluctuate.

02

Speed and Core Web Vitals

A slow site is off the shortlist before anyone clicks. My team makes your pages fast for buyers, Google and AI assistants.

03

Crawling and site structure

Google can crawl and index the right pages, and each buyer question gets one focused page, linked from the rest of the site.

04

Schema and accessibility

Structured data so search engines and AI assistants read your business correctly, and accessibility fixes like those my team made for Sunwater.

05

Tracking that proves enquiries

Search Console for search performance, plus tested enquiry events and CRM source fields where available. Review these together, with consent, missing-referrer and attribution limits stated. The accounts stay in your name.

06

Location pages that earn it

Location pages from one strong template, only for Queensland areas people search and you genuinely serve.

Why work with Nirmal Gyanwali on SEO Brisbane?

I’m Nirmal Gyanwali, Founder and CEO of WP Creative, and I’ve been building on the web since 2005. If you’re comparing SEO companies or SEO consultants in Brisbane, your buyers are comparing too, and more of them now do it in a chatbot.

Half of US adults use chatbots, and 42% use them to look up information (Pew Research Center, February 2026 survey). Those tools build their answers from your website and from what others say about you, such as reviews, directories and articles. Your website is the one source you control. If it’s slow or muddled, you’ve handed the description of your business to everyone else.

Start with a free consultation. You’ll talk with me or my team, remotely from Sydney. We look for technical barriers and decide what needs investigation before recommending build work. A first call cannot prove why an assistant chooses one business over another. My team has built and fixed websites for Queensland organisations from Brisbane to Toowoomba. We build the technical foundation. Ongoing SEO, content and links go to partners we trust.

Because I’ll tell you what’s actually in the way, even if the answer is that you don’t need my team. I’ve been building on the web since 2005, founded WP Creative in 2016, and built PostCliq to show where visitors and AI agents get stuck after the click. My team has fixed and rebuilt sites for Queensland government, property and resort organisations.

I also build and test agents and AI workflows every day, on WP Creative’s own platform, internal tools and client sites. My team uses AI across our WPO framework, with technical architecture first so Google, AI assistants and agents can read and use your pages, and we’re working toward ISO 27001 certification. There are no hacks; there is evidence.

Your accounts stay in your name. My team builds the foundation, and your marketing team, or a partner you choose, runs the campaign.

SEO Brisbane FAQs

Will I still need an SEO company after the consultation?

Maybe not. My team builds the technical foundation; your marketing team can do most of the content with AI, and links come from PR and editorial coverage. If you need more help, a partner from our network, or the Brisbane SEO company you already have, does the ongoing work. If the site is the bottleneck, fix it first and their budget goes further. If it isn’t, we’ll say so on the call.

My rankings dropped. Is it Google or my website?

Line up the dates, then test, because a matching date is a clue, not a verdict. If the drop matches a confirmed Google update, my Google algorithm update history will show it. If it lines up with a launch, a plugin change or a hosting move, look at the site first. Often it’s more than one thing: seasonality, a competitor, a tracking change or an update landing in the same week. Missing redirects and pages accidentally set to noindex are the first two things I’d check, then which pages and queries actually fell.

How much does SEO cost in Brisbane?

Start with the website, not the retainer. Agency retainers pay for content, links and reporting; technical fixes are usually a separate, one-off job. I don’t publish prices here, and my team doesn’t sell monthly SEO. A free consultation tells you which spend should come first.

Who is the best SEO company in Brisbane?

The one that fits what’s blocking you. If your site is sound, choose a Brisbane SEO company with proof in your industry and a client you can call. If the site has verified technical barriers, ask who will fix them and how success will be checked alongside the campaign. Some “top SEO companies” lists sell their top spots, so check how a list ranks before you trust it.

How do I know my SEO company is doing a good job?

Ask every month what changed on the site, which pages and queries moved, and what that did to enquiries. Google’s own advice on hiring an SEO is blunt: “No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google” (Google Search Central). Treat a ranking guarantee or a long lock-in contract as a warning sign, and keep Search Console and analytics in your name so you can check the numbers yourself.

Should I hire an SEO expert or an SEO agency in Brisbane?

An independent SEO expert suits a focused job: an audit, a migration plan or advice for an in-house marketer. An agency suits ongoing volume: content, links and campaigns. Either way, someone must be able to change the website. If neither can, add a technical team to the plan.

Should we have a page for every Queensland town we serve?

Only where you have something true and specific to say: local work, local reviews, a real service area. Pages that differ only by town name risk being treated as doorway pages by Google. One strong Brisbane page beats twenty thin suburb pages, for rankings and for AI answers.

Does my SEO consultant need to be based in Brisbane?

No. Technical SEO happens in shared data and on the site itself, wherever the consultant sits. Local signals, like your Google Business Profile, Queensland reviews and consistent business details, come from your information. What matters is that your SEO consultant understands your Brisbane buyers and competitors.

Ready for a straight answer on your site?

Tell us what you sell and where in Queensland. You’ll talk with me or my team, and we’ll tell you what’s in the way and who should fix it. Not in Brisbane? My main SEO consultant page covers how we work elsewhere.
